As the Last Embers Darken into Obscurity

The dwindling incandescence of this once mighty flame,
used to blaze far into the nightly dominion of shadows.
Gone now is the kindling that once fed this red beast.
And now the warmth from it’s radiant glow has weakened.

Drained and dying fast, it once beaconed in total defiance,
shining through the veil like a thousand glimmering stars.
Fading now, suffocating slowly within the shrouds of night.
Gradually, patiently, they claim back the lost gloom.
