Yo me llamo cumbia
My name is Cumbia. I am the queen by where I'm going
There is not a hip that be still quiet where I am
My skin is brunette like the leathers of my drum
And my shoulders are a pair of maracas that kiss the sun

I have in the throat a fine flute that God gave me
canuto of millo, smell of snuff, brandy and ron
I take my bag, I turn on the candle and peal the sound
and I tangle in the moon and the stars all of my voice
As I am the queen, the court makes me a fine violin
I love a piano, I follow a sax, and I listen a clarin
and all of the orchestra make a party around of me
and I am the cumbia, the coquette female, and I dance happy.
I was born in the beautiful Caribbean beaches of my country,
I'm Barranquillera, Cartagenera, I'm from there,
I'm from Santa Marta, I'm Monteriana, but that is true
I am from Colombian, oh! beautiful land where I was born
