Ahora que llego la madurez
Now that maturity has come and I’m sitting here
Now that half a life has passed through these hands
Now that everyone has gone to sleep
And the air in the living room is quiet
Now that the night is in peace
Naked in front of me

Now that the fire is dying in the grate
And the windows kiss a grey moon
Today I want to take stock of what I gained
And what I lost
And I remember I lost that childhood
So full of caresses and kisses
And so as not to lie, the odd deserved smack
I lost my old school and my first teacher
And a woman with grey hair, who taught me how to pray
And I remember that I lost a white soul
In my first adolescent sin
I remember I lost my poetry book
And an enchanted castle, made of sand
And that half-girlfriend who taught me how to kiss
Now that maturity has come and I’m sitting here
