Yes you did say something about being busy trying to figure it out
But the number you're calling is speaking to someone else
So I guess you did not cut off everyone else
Just my call
A call that you took when you never really picked up on things
'Please hold the line' says the phone
And trust me I have been holding on
Or call back again in some time giving me thickest vague hope
As I reach for the unreachable number of times
Which you're roaming too much
And I'm losing all my balance
The phone has started taking matter into its own hands
Causing you with beeps unable to hang in the midst of every call
Deemed engaged
Engaged with someone else
Engaged in something less than what we had
Maybe you are my missed call, my missed chance
The number you're calling does not exist
Maybe just not anymore
So when I think of new relationships the phone reminds me that I probably don't have enough credit left to make that call
At least not anymore

I couldn't imagine we were going wrong
We were going strong
I could never read the signs but I guess he was always on the line
Just waiting for his time when the f*** did this cross connection happened
You locked me outside home with changing patterns

I'm exhausted batteries
And corny metaphors
